Conclusion
reading and writing for sustainability
pp. 257-269
in: , Exercises in new creation from Paul to Kierkegaard, Basingstoke, Palgrave Macmillan, 2018Abstract
This chapter proposes that these exercises of new creation can transform subjects, relationships, and communities to be more sustainable. First, it retraces the path of the wisdom of the cross by briefly exploring the exercises of new creation in 2 Corinthians. It then shows how these exercises are positioned in the blind spot of mainstream sustainable development, as they engage with the neglected social pillar of sustainability (concerned with social justice, well-being, and education). Finally, it concludes by calling philosophical theology to both more fully attend to the forms and exercises of the writings of the past and to engage with the everyday, political, social, and ecological practices of the present.
