Abstract

Curie formulated the principle that an asymmetry in causes can vanish in symmetrical effects. This has been discussed by Enriques, Sellerio, Renaud, and the author, and is important for the role of time in physics. Standard methods in physical theory use symmetrical relations; an alternative would use asymmetrical relations and Curie's principle applied to relaxing structures. This is illustrated by the properties of a skew (deformed) tetrahedron relaxing towards the regular form. Physical theory would benefit from the identification of a 3D geometrical model of electromagnetism using Curie's principle.
