Abstract

Countries like Nigeria are adamant in their pursuits—at least, in terms of policy—of linking the cultivation of democratic citizenship education to the professional development of its teachers. The authors are interested in the types of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes available to teachers. By focusing specifically on six teachers in Lagos, Nigeria, these authors explore how (and if at all) these programmes facilitate the cultivation of teachers of democratic citizenship education.
