Abstract

In (recent) Lutheran systematic theology, the concept of creation orders is used as a heuristic tool in interpreting the world around us in order to contribute to one of the central tasks of theological ethics: the interpretation of the reality in which human beings are called to live responsibly. This article describes the opinions of several contemporary Lutheran authors on creation orders in order to compare them with the concept of creation orders in Reformed theology. It concludes with an investigation of the possibilities of a Lutheran contribution to the concept of creation orders within neo-Calvinist thinking.
