Abstract

Leisure seems too trivial a subject to be treated philosophically. The philosophy of work, yes: that is serious. But leisure is nothing. It is either a piece of spare time between serious and important or necessary pursuits, or the kind of activities engaged in during this period — leisure activities. What possible philosophical problems could such activities or absence of activity generate?
