Abstract

Husserl's semantic is basically a theory of meaning. What, however, delimits the scope of meaning; can a theory of meaning distinguish the meaningful from the meaningless? This paper critically approaches Husserl's theory of meaning from its account of meaninglessness. Husserl's account of meaning-intention and meaning-fulfillment as well as contemporary debates regarding sense and reference are also discussed.
