Nowadays, analysis and synthesis processes allow a wide variety of timbral effects. One of the most popular effects is known as cross-synthesis. Cross-synthesis consists in combining timbral parameters from two distinct sounds to obtain a new hybrid sound. This paper introduces the use of principal component analysis (PCA) in an analysis/synthesis process and shows its flexibility for the creation of hybrid sounds.
