Semiotics in Sweden

in: Thomas Sebeok, Jean Umiker-Sebeok (eds), The semiotic sphere, Berlin, Springer, 1986Abstract
Semiotics as a field of research in Sweden is remarkable neither for diversity nor depth, nor does it have a history proper. It has no institutional basis as a discipline in its own right. Semiotics exists as a number of isolated efforts within separate scholarly disciplines and as a number of unrelated contributions by poets, critics, and journalists.
