Visualisation is arguably one of the most profitable means of communicating information to a user. Software visualisation promises to provide useful techniques for supporting the program comprehension process. This research is investigating the application of 3D graphics and virtual reality technology to software visualisation. This paper identifies the seven key areas of 3D software visualisation which must be addressed. Also described are two prototype visualisation systems.
