This chapter traces the developments in the frontier areas of physics, astronomy and cosmology in the 20th century and highlights the role of the substratum quantum vacuum in the creation of the fundamental particles and radiations, the forces of nature and the creation of the universe itself. The paper discusses the so-called hard problem encountered in life sciences because of which there is no proper explanation of consciousness and expresses the hope that emerging field of "vacuum quantum biology" on lines similar to vacuum quantum physics may solve the life sciences problem in the 21st century.
