Abstract

Kautsky welcomed the Russian Revolution of February 1917. He defined its character as bourgeois, in that it destroyed the remnants of feudalism, and democratic, because it opened the channels to political power for all classes. Further, he regarded it as a victory for the Russian peace party, and the German government would have to offer it generous terms.¹
