I. There are many different answers to the question of what Husserl's phenomenology is. It is above all a new philosophical method, as Husserl himself emphasized again and again, expressing his conviction that truly profound accomplishments in philosophy arise principally from innovations in method, rather than from reformulations of earlier doctrines and reinterpretations of philosophical systems from the past.
