Abstract

The role of the habits in the constitution of personal character and their constant influence on the active life of the ego have always been at the center of philosophical reflection, in particular starting from Aristotle. Purpose of this article is to investigate the category of habit within the framework of phenomenological reflection of Edmund Husserl. What in particular will be the focus of the following analysis is the dynamic of sedimentation of the Erlebnisse: Lived experiences sink and constitute the history [Geschichte] of the ego. This sedimented history continues to influence in the present position-taking and to motivate the voluntary life. Nothing of what the ego has lived is lost. The genetic phenomenology has the aim to discover the constituting character of Habitus in a transcendental perspective.
