Insofar as it is possible, without being naive, to advance any prediction at all about the future of humanity, it is possible to say that the present and future state of humanity depend upon the development of technics. But technical development as conceived today — that is, as an activity directed toward the search for mastery (dominium) over otherness in general — does not have a uniyocal meaning, nor does it operate under a single unique modality that is universally accepted.
